Website Accessibility

We want this website to work for everyone in our community, including people with disabilities.

If you use assistive technology such as a screen reader or a Braille display, and something on this site gets in the way of finding what you need, please contact us. It helps if you tell us what went wrong, the format you would like the information in, the address (URL) of the page, and how to reach you. We will get back to you.

How we approach accessibility

  • We aim to meet Section 508 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Levels A and AA. These are the common standards for website accessibility. WCAG 2.1 builds on and replaces WCAG 2.0.
  • The site is built to work with the keyboard alone, to provide text descriptions for images, to keep enough color contrast to be readable, and to offer a "skip to content" link for people using a keyboard or screen reader.
  • You can switch between a light and a dark theme using the toggle at the top of the page.
  • If any part of the site is hard to use, or you just have feedback, please contact us.

Browser accessibility tools

Most browsers have built-in tools for adjusting text size, zoom, contrast, and more:

Known limitations

We test the site against WCAG 2.1 AA and fix problems as we find them. A couple of things are worth calling out:

  • Embedded chat widgets. The Reach Out page embeds a live Discord widget and an IRC web chat. Those are run by Discord and Libera.Chat, so we cannot control how accessible they are. If either one is hard to use, you can email us at contact@azmsh.net, or join Discord or IRC directly with a client that works for you.
  • Volunteer-run. This site is maintained by volunteers in their spare time. If you hit a barrier we have not listed here, please tell us and we will work on it.

Accommodations

We are a volunteer group, and we want everyone to be able to get to our information.

If you need something in a different format, want to report an accessibility problem, or need another reasonable accommodation, contact us using the information below and we will do our best to help.

Contact us

When you report a problem, it helps to include the address (URL) of the page, the browser and assistive technology you are using, and a short note about what happened.
